“A steady hand on the wheel takes an unblinking courage.”

JULY 31, 2025

Highway

Keep driving and you’ll crash

a long straight road suddenly veers

a steady hand on the wheel takes an unblinking courage

a long straight longing takes an unblinking courage

keep going and you’ll crash

now I’m flagging

clothes abandoned by the highway

a bird carcass crushed unrecognizable

distance from the wing to the heart

When you can’t pull over on the highway

driving cars driving people on the highway

life is just an extension of longing

keep going and you’ll crash

stop abruptly and you’ll crash
